New Health and Fitness Radio Show Joins the Fight Against Obesity
–For Immediate Release–
San Luis Obispo, CA- A new health and fitness radio show, Living the Run, is now on the Central Coast airwaves. Living the Run, which airs on ESPN 1280, is partnering with the American Cancer Society and the HEAL-SLO Coalition (Healthy Eating, Active Living San Luis Obispo). The purpose of the weekly radio show is to join the worldwide fight against obesity, and to spread the good word about health and fitness. The obesity epidemic is hitting the Central Coast a lot harder than many people may realize. 56% of adults and 32% of 5th, 7th and 9th graders in San Luis Obispo County are overweight or obese, according to HEAL-SLO. Living the Run is hosted by Ryan Foran and Olympian Paul Terek.
Terek was on the 2004 United States Olympic team, and represented the U.S. three times in the decathlon at the World Championships. Foran is a big time fitness fanatic who has completed several half marathons and triathlons. He is the Communications Director for the Lucia Mar Unified School District, teachers journalism at Cal Poly, and owns Living the Run. Prior to starting Living the Run (radio show and website), Foran anchored the weekend sportscasts at KSBY TV, and was a general assignment news reporter.
“I’m thrilled Paul is co-hosting with me. He shares my enthusiasm for health and fitness, and he has a wealth of knowledge and experience having competed at the highest level all over the world. And if you know Paul at all, you know he has a great personality, and you know he is not one who will shy away from an opinion. I’m just hoping he can comply with FCC standards,” Foran joked.
The show covers topics like the composition of sports drinks, genetically engineered foods, exercise science, training tips, nutrition, and much more. Foran and Terek have a different expert guest on the show each week.
“We really want to give people information that can greatly improve their health and their lives. We’re hoping our show will also give health and fitness fanatics a platform to join this fun and important discussion,” Foran said.
Living the Run is also streamed live online via http://espnradio1280.com/. The show is sponsored by Running Warehouse, Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, Ardy’s Pilates, We Stream Fitness, and Mullahey Ford.
